FRAGRANCE DESCRIPTION
As a high-end collection, Boadicea is full of references to royalty, lineage and power, and it all harks back to Boadicea, the warrior queen of the Iceni who rebelled against the Roman army.
Every perfume collection has fragrances that perhaps go unnoticed, making them somehow more satisfying and pleasant to rediscover. Monarch is a prime example. A warm and enveloping fragrance, discreet, with layers of resins, woods, oud, spices, leather, floral notes, and a splendid opening of ripe red berries, artemisia, black tea, and cypress.
The heart flowers are a splendid composition of intoxicating roses and jasmine, enhanced by the fresher, pepperier notes of freesia and creamy lily of the valley. Lust meets purity, expertly enhanced by pink pepper, cardamom, and a touch of cinnamon.
Monarch was inspired by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, sadly no longer with us. Her unwavering sense of duty, her fortitude, and her dedication to the kingdom and her subjects. It's always striking that someone as renowned as the Queen was also a huge enigma. Monarch is in many ways a melancholy fragrance, inevitably tinged with our personal ties. Even the most vocal anti-monarchy voices were momentarily silenced. A widow wept. The perfume's composition expresses detachment, strength, and accessibility, echoing the Iceni Queen Boadicea, who challenged Roman rule after her husband's death and the shocking treatment meted out to herself and her daughters.
Monarch's floral notes are elegant and gentle; it's not a perfume that dominates the surrounding air, yet it has a beautiful presence: black tea and red berries are flavored with dry citrus notes and the oily pine and rosemary scent of cypress.
